Could one of the payment options be done with a bar code reader or QR codes on local rates notice to members of the public?

Yes, we have a couple of customers in production now using QR codes issued to Rate payers through the rates notice issuing process. Our focus today is how to quickly implement solutions and for rates notices it depends when the notices go out so for some it will not be an immediate solution. But our solutions for managing QR codes/Voucher/Waste entitlements can generate equivalent documents directly through the naus Platform, on demand! If we went to card fobs or digital payments… can this be linked to the trucks GPS to stop improper use of the card or Q code/bar code?

We believe the solution we would like to develop with your support will be cheaper for councils and less complex for users. The broader digital payments model we have been discussing with customers is the idea of a customer (or service centre) printed QR code which is self-serviced online through the council website. This is similar to getting a cinema ticket online. Our system would check the entitlements by property/user and issue accordingly. When the resident/commercial customer arrives at the weighbridge it would be scanned, and that unique transaction of customer/weight/image capture would be recorded, and the database updated for reporting and entitlement adjustment.

Is Mandalay considering how to electronically deliver a ticket to the driver or customer?

This has been on our product development pathway for some time. This crisis seems to have galvanised interest in adopting more digital solutions. We are reviewing the work required to deliver Digital Ticket options for our customers and will be engaging with clients to confirm interest in order to reprioritise our current development. What measures have Mandalay put in place to ensure support is available if COVID-19 hits the Mandalay team?

We will continue to service our customers with staff in a reduced risk environment at home now, and into the future.
